Chemical Peels

Chemical peel is a procedure designed to enhance the look and feel of the skin.

It involves applying a unique chemical solution to the skin -which is of water or gel consistency

Chemical peels are derived from nature resources like Sugarcane , Almonds, Milk and processed to make it safe and efficacious to use

Chemical peels are effective in treating various skin issues, including acne,  acne scars , sun damage, wrinkles, and uneven skin

Why Chemical Peels?

  • Treatment time is short
  • Safe to use and efficacious in multiple skin issues
  • Shorter down time
  • Non – invasive

Chemical peels are broadly classified into three types

  • superficial peel
  • medium peel
  • deep peel

Superficial peels penetrate the epidermis( top layer of the skin)

medium-depth peels affect the entire epidermis and papillary dermis( top and upper part of the second skin layer )

deep peels allow for controlled tissue injury to the level of the mid-reticular dermis( second layer -lower part)

TYPES OF PEELS

  • Glycolic peels
  • Salicylic peel
  • Yellow peel
  • Black peel
  • Green peel
  • Pumpkin
  • Cos Melan peel

CHEMICAL PEEL PROCESS

  • Skin is cleansed with a special cleanser to remove makeup and maintain pH levels of the skin
  • Petroleum jelly is applied to the corners of the mouth, eyes, and nose to stop the extra application of the peel to these folds
  • The respective chemical solution is applied using a gauze or a cotton-tipped applicator/brush
  • Most peels are neutralized in the clinic itself with its respective neutralizer
  • A hand-held fan might also be given to you to cool the skin
  • A feeling of burning and stinging may occur transient

POST PROCEDURE CARE

  • Apply the dermatologist-recommended moisturizer or repair cream to the treated areas to take care of the dryness and hydrate the skin
  • Sunscreen is an absolute must
  • Patient must avoid direct sun exposure
  • Make use of the breeze from a fan or ice packs for comfort
  • Go for a check-up soon after the treatment to monitor your healing
  • Note a decrease in swelling will result in the treated portions forming a crust, which might darken; avoid peeling this crust or even touching it and let it heal naturally
